FGV Holdings Bhd is expanding its logistics sector with newly added road tankers, curtain sider trailers and dumper trucks. FGV add more truck to grow their market. Other than that, FGV also can increase the efficiency to their company. FGV expected these assets to boost its logistics arm under FGV Transport Sdn Bhd, which also offers inland transport, multimodal transport, courier services and warehousing. They also focused and determined to expand their logistics business in line with the industry’s demand for a reliable and efficient logistics provider. Their service is not just transporting from A to point B, but they offer a team of experienced professionals in logistics and transportation management with state-of-the-art vehicle tracking system to monitor the movement of the trucks and delivered product. With the additional curtain sider trailers, FGV Transport is tapping into the petrochemical segment particularly for specialty chemicals including resin, high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and urea.
ii) Innovation and Sustainability
Sustainability is an integral guardrail in
FGV’s growth plan and is progressively being embedded into the company’s
operational ‘eco-system’ in the context of organization’s capacity, financial,
stakeholders and customers. Innovation is important for the growth of FGV. FGV
see innovation as an important aspect of our growth strategy, especially in
developing new products and cost-saving programmers. The company undertakes
applied research and the findings are then used to develop further downstream
and consumer products.
FGV have an R&D council that primarily
reviews R&D programs and drives innovative culture, at the same time
ensuring sustainability remains one of the main criterion in their plans. They
are also undertaking the recertification of all their mills so that their
products are recognized as Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) products. The
response to these initiatives from various stakeholders have been very positive

iii) Vehicle tracking system
FGV plan to improve their system in controlling their trucks. They want to make a system where they can trace the whereabout location of the trucks. This is a software system used by transport companies to monitor the location of trucks, trailers and other vehicles. The software is connected to the vehicles via GPS, giving companies real-time insight into the geographic position of their vehicles. Transport companies have the perfect overview of their transport fleet. The system have a real-time connection to a central dashboard, planners/dispatchers always know where a vehicle is located. They can communicate directly with drivers, adjust the schedule where necessary and inform customers of the estimated time of arrival. In the system they can trace where the truck, the speed of the truck and the quantity of the fuel in tank. This system also can improve their handling and transport rates as well as higher throughput volume for the transport and storage businesses over the past year. This investment in a new generation of technologically advanced, fuel-efficient and low emission trucks.
